Scholarship Program 1997-2003 / 2005-2007
 

This program is available to all high schools in the seven county area. One senior from each high school, who meets all minimum scoring requirements, is eligible to receive a $1,000 scholarship by researching, constructing and submitting a paper about one or more benefits of the Coal Industry. Each successful candidate is invited to compete for additional scholarships by participating in the Oral Presentation part of the program. Three Oral Presentation awards in the amounts of; First $1,500, Second $1,000 and Third $500 are given to the three participants making the most point gain from their Written to their Oral Presentation scores. Three over-all awards in the amounts of; First $5,000, Second $3,000 and Third $1,000 are given to the three students having the highest combined Written and Oral Presentation scores. Over the ten years this program has existed there have been $221,000 awarded to (117) students.
